Local Footprints Service Continues in 2010

Monday 25th January 2010 12:32 pm

SSN LFP TextThe Scottish Government has extended funding to the Local Footprint Project so that it can continue to support local authorities and schools using the footprint approach in 2010.

Local Footprints will continue to provide 'sharing best practice events' and encourage councils to use the Footprint Guide, as well as linking local authorities to the national footprint agenda in Scotland.

Local Footprints will also work with a small number of councils as exemplars using footprint analysis to inform policy. We are currently accepting submissions for councils to become exemplar projects in 2010.

Exemplars will receive dedicated Local Footprints Officer support to use footprint analysis and REAP scenarios. Although a small number of councils will be selected as exemplars, other councils will be chosen to shadow the exemplars as a way to transfer the lessons learned as the projects progress. If your councils is interested in becoming an exemplar in 2010, please contact the Project Officer: amie.fulton@ksbscotland.org or 01786 468770.

Local Footprints will also continue to support schools and educationalists across Scotland to use the footprint approach. In 2010, we will work to ensure that footprinting support and materials are integrated into mainstream, national education organisations, including Eco-Schools Scotland and Learning and Teaching Scotland programmes. A priority will be to integrate footprint materials, support and guidance into GLOW.
