Beautiful Scotland
Hundreds of thousands of people from villages, towns and cities across Scotland benefit from the improvement in the quality of their local environment as a result of communities’ participation in the Beautiful Scotland campaign. Local businesses also benefit from the increased volume of tourists and visitors seeing the improvements for themselves.
Keep Scotland Tidy, a programme of Keep Scotland Beautiful, runs the Beautiful Scotland Campaign which has been assisting communities for over 40 years.
There are two strands to the programme to reflect the variety of communities involved. The main Beautiful Scotland campaign is judged each year in relation to horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation within each area, while Neighbourhood Awards, the non-competitive element, gives support and recognition to communities beginning local environmental improvements.
Community benefits include a regular newsletter, website, awards ceremony and annual seminar.
More information about the Beautiful Scotland main campaign and the Neighbourhood Awards scheme can be found on the Beautiful Scotland website.
